Loving People Into The Kingdom of God

Food Pantry

Join the "Two-Can" Campaign

Each week as you shop,  you are encouraged to pick up an extra two items to share with the needy who are served through the Groveton Food Pantry.

So next time you shop, think of that crazy Toucan bird and pick up a couple of extra items.  Read below for suggestions on what to buy.  Donations can be place in the large blue collection bin located next to Pastor Frazier's office in the East Hall foyer.

GBC FOOD PANTRY MEETS CRITICAL NEEDS EVERY WEEK

Current needs:   MICROWAVE MEALS, DRY OR CANNED BEANS (e.g., KIDNEY, PINTO, BLACK),  CANNED CHILI, CANNED FRUIT, MUFFIN MIX & PEANUT BUTTER

Hunger is a growing problem across the country and in the Alexandria area. There are many individuals and families right here in our community who find that their food does not last until the next payday.  There are homeless men and women in our community who have no ability to store or cook food.

Through our Food Pantry the members of Groveton Baptist Church help to meet emergency hunger/food needs.  Those in need of emergency food may receive prepared bags of food from church office staff/volunteers between10:30 AM and 3:30 PM on Mondays and Fridays or on Wednesdays between 11:30 AM and 3:30 PM (except holidays).

Over the last six months the number of requests for food has averaged about 70/month, more than double previous years' requests.  .

In addition to the above, the following are regularly needed items:

Microwavable Foods:  Soup, Spaghetti/Ravioli, Chicken and dumplings, etc.
Take and Eat Items:  Pop-top foods, Granola bars, Individual servings of fruit/applesauce/pudding, etc.
Items for Dinners:  Instant or regular Rice, Instant Potatoes, Macaroni & cheese, Ramen noodles, Powdered/canned milk

We provide each recipient with a letter from our Senior Pastor with information about God's love for all and an invitation to GBC services.  As available, we provide Christian literature.
