Bible Fellowship (Sunday School)

  In a small group Bible study you can experience Christian fellowship, learn about the life changing message of Jesus Christ, share in meeting the needs of others, and participate in
worship.
 
     At Groveton, elementary-age children and students are grouped by school grades. Early childhood classes are grouped by age and development. Adults are grouped by life style and interests. Groveton also has a group of special-needs adults.
     
     Bible study groups have open enrollment. You can join anytime during the year! The studies are foundational and practical. No prior knowledge or experience with Bible study is needed. Colorful Bible study materials are provided free of charge.

Preschool: Birth - Kindergarten

     Preschoolers are grouped according to age, developmental skills, and as well as the size of the groups. Parents of preschoolers will need to check in their children at a welcome desk located on the second floor. First time visitors will need to fill out a registration form that will serve as their security card for pick up at the end of the session.
     Permanent security cards are issued for regular attenders. Children eighteen months and younger have the option of staying for ETC (Extended Teaching Care) that continues in the same room as Sunday School during the 11:00 am worship service.
     Preschoolers learn Bible truths in an age appropriate learning environments that focus on eight core areas: God, Jesus, self, others, my church, natural world, Bible, and family
     Preschool rooms are located in the second floor. Door B is the most direct outside entrance to the children's and preschool wing.

Children: Elementary Age Groups

     Elementary age children are divided into three groups:
          Grades 1-2
          Grades 3-4
          Pre-Teen (Grades 5-6)
     
     The 1st and 2nd graders are led by Melissa Rigg and meet in room 209. The children use a curriculum that equips boys and girls to gain a foundation for Bible understanding, Bible skills, and central Bible themes.
     The 3rd and 4th graders are led by Eric and Ellen Nakpil and Julia Romero. The group meets in room 203.
     The Pre-Teens are led by Ellen Frazier and Gene Blough and meet in room 201.
     Nancye Campbell serves as Children's Division Director.

Students

     Student groups are divided into four groups
          Middle School
          9th and 10th graders
          11th and 12th graders
          College/Career Age

     The girls group is led by Brenda "Pebbles" Richards. A mother of three boys, she has a passion of girls and guys following Jesus Christ
     The guys group is led by Mirfin Mpundu and Jerry Frazier. Mirfin, a pharmacist, brings a wealth of international experience to his teaching of the Bible. Jerry is the youth pastor.
     The College and Career group is made up of young professionals recently graduated from college as well as current students. Mark and Debbie Husband, parents of two college students, serve as leaders.

Discover Bible Basics

     An eight week course that will be offered as an option in Sunday School that helps people gain a knowledgeable perspective in order to choose the role the Bible and Christianity can have in their lives. The lessons are designed to answer questions as students move beyond the basics toward spiritual understanding and maturity. Discover Bible Basics can ignite a vibrant and fulfilling faith as one discovers from themselves how God reveals His message of love and forgiveness to those who are looking for their purpose in life.

Adult II: Young Adults

     Are you looking for a special kind of relationship with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit but are not sure where to start? Then look no further! The Adult II Bible Study class is a unique, diverse, and close knit group of people that welcome all newcomers with open arms. The relaxed class atmosphere entices open, free thinking discussion to ensure everyone's participation. This scripture bases Bible Study is the one for you ; if you want to learn more about Jesus and the countless lessons centered around our blessed redeemer, his followers and all the other characters in the Old and New Testament. We look forward to seeing you and sharing the gospel in an open forum lesson plan format that invigorates your learning about God. You will soon discover the fresh new approach toward learning about God and His people will excite you to take initiative in learning more. So come on in and discover a new relationship with God in Adult II Bible Study.
      Bob and Joan Roby lead a group of singles and marrieds who are parents of preschoolers, children, and teens. They study a curriculum entitled Life Answers that help adults build Bible knowledge and understanding, develop godly values, and equip learners to live with Christ-like excellence. The group meets in room 400 on the top floor which is accessible from the central stairway one floor above the sanctuary level
    

Adult III: Median Adults

    Median adults are divided into three groups
          Couples/Coed
          New Beginnings
          International Class

     The Couples/Coed group, led by Larry Dickenson, is a group primarily made up of parents of college age children and "new" empty-nesters.
     The International class is led by Linda and Stephen Surridge. The International class includes people who are from all over the globe as well as native Americans who enjoy building relationships with first generation Americans.
     The New Beginnings class is led by Christine Stevens. The women's group is a mixed age group. Each class uses Life Truths that helps participants develop godly values, life skills, and knowledge of the Word.

Adult III classes meet at the East end of the second floor rooms in rooms 263, 261, and 258.

Another option for Median Adults is Faith's Friends who meet on the main floor with easy physical access to the sanctuary. Faith's Friends is led by Tammy Defrees and is primarily a group of ladies with school age children. 

Adult IV: Active Seniors (Coed)

     Adult IV is primarily a group of early retirees and active senior adults who are led by director Landon Jones and teacher Ted Prince. The group meets in room 151 ( also referred to as the Lower Chapel) adjacent to the preschool/children's wing.
     Adult IV uses a curriculum series entitles Life Ventures that focuses on developing godly values with application toward active senior adults.
 

Adult V: Senior Adults

     A special group at GBC is Adult V that consists of senior men and women who continue to learn and grow in their relationship to Christ. John Willett teaches a coed group and Joyce Elam teaches a women's group. They also use the Life Ventures Bible series. Adult V meets in East Hall, on the same level as the sanctuary with restrooms nearby.
 

Special Education Adults

      For many years, Groveton has ministered to a variety of special needs adults. The Robin Class provides learning experiences through music, small and large group learning activities to teach the simple truths of the gospel message. The Robin Class is led by Leslie Adewale, Chuck Case and Cora Lee Hevenor. The group meets in room 257 just inside Door B. Door B is accessible without steps.
